Twin dreamers

We who cast long shadows,
We the children of the night.
We who have remained in the darkness
Do we dare embrace the light?
Darkness pulses through our veins
and down into our very core
There once was a time when our dreams did soar
Among the night sky, each dream  represented by a shining star
But one by one they went out and grew far
We fought so hard for every hope we gave it our best
Until we thought our hearts would burst out of our chest
We feared the eternal night that would come if we ever took a rest
We sacrificed everything to stop this blight
Now only two remain in that blanket of twilight
One with a shade of red,
Much like the crown the sun wears upon her head
The other blue like ice , standing against the storm
No matter the cost nor the price
Take faith my friend and look about
Not all lights are destined to go out
Take my hand and join the fight
So that together we can embrace the light
