After not playing WoW for about half a year. While I did resubscribe to it for the month of October but logged on and off about 8 times that month for about an hour. So that did't count for me. I really didn't have time or energy to play it. I thought I would try out SW:ToR in December/January. I achieved level 41 Bounty hunter and tried a few flashpoints. Here are my thoughts~
The Good:
- Great main storyline interesting and makes you want to see how it develops
- Deciding how your character acts and what decisions you make (evil vs good)
- Companions are awesome
- Great looking game in general better graphics then WoW or FFXI
- PvP is actually fun compared to WoW's at least for me
- A good basic MMO with all the systems in place for low levels up to endgame
- Good Voice Acting
The Bad:
- Every Quest has a voice acting part and you end up spamming skip through the majority of it barring the main storyline
- The flash points have long annoying cutscenes in them not only do you have to spam spacebar you have to wait for the rest of the party to read them or click a quest point. Imagine the stupid Throne of tides cutscene 2-3 times a dungeon that you couldn't skip
- The combat system is clunky to me and there is so much extra trash while leveling I ended up running through most of it and dying at the end to skip it
-No LFD,LFR this was the biggest thing for me it felt like going back to the old days of spamming trade chat for every heroic. I don't have a lot of time with work and other games etc to be able to sit in trade chat doing nothing and watching for groups.
- Unfinshed still releasing things that should of been in game like U.I scaling and such they just added AA which really should of been in the released version
In the end it wasn't for me. I like the game and might resub if they fix some of the above things mainly the LFD/LFR because I work odd hours and usually cannot raid or play primetime hours. It makes it much easier on me to log in get a few pieces of gear and run a few dungeons in a short period of time. Also it really felt like a single player game to me like Mass Effect. Once you finish your main quest I don't see much after that is appealing to me.
For the future of MMO's I really haven't made up my mind FF14 2.0, WoW, or GW2 are all on the radar for me.
and yes I still hope Diablo 3 comes out soon despite the naysayers
